ACC Basketball has several teams with Final Four (or greater) aspirations. But are they for real or have too many flaws to make it that far?

As a conference, ACC Basketball might be able to stake its claim as the best in college basketball (though the Big Ten would reasonably argue otherwise, especially this year). From top to bottom, I would take the Big Ten, but if we’re comparing the teams at the top of the heap, give me the ACC by a small margin.

The five teams at the top of the ACC conference standings (Virginia, Duke, Louisville, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech) appear to be locks for the NCAA Tournament. I plan to examine all five teams and whether I’m buying or selling them as threats come March.

Now that we’re into February, all five of these teams have done enough to demonstrate that they are capable of making a tournament run. If I were doing a piece on whether or not I’m buying the ceiling of each respective team, that’d be quite boring – I’d buy them all. Let’s try something different!

In this buy/sell piece, I want to focus on what I would set forth as expectations for each team if I was a part of that team’s fan base. At the end of the day, the enjoyment fans derive from cheering on their squad is all relative to the expectations they set, right?
