With the Big West Conference season halfway over, where does each team stand, and who are the favorites for each individual award?
The Big West Conference has pumped out some pretty exciting teams over the past couple of seasons, and this year is no different. While the bottom teams continue to hold the conference back, the competitiveness at the top should make for a very exciting finish.
Last season the star power of TJ Shorts II and Kyle Allman propelled UC Davis and CSU Fullerton to the Big West Regular Season and Tournament Championships respectively. Despite both players returning, the other teams in the conference have risen to the occasion and made the one-bid league one of the most intriguing to follow.
While one team is the clear favorite entering the last month of the season, the nature of the Big West Tournament means that six or seven teams have a legitimate shot at the NCAA Tournament. If you enjoy watching the drama of the lower mid-major tournaments, and want to watch ones with tons of star power, the Big West should be at the top of your list.
Just like the championship race, the talent around the league has become much more balance, allowing more teams to compete in the middle of the standings. Along with Allman and Shorts, several other players in the conference have also made a huge splash, and could be in line for the Big West awards at the end of the year.
So let’s take a look at where the Big West teams stand, and which individuals have established themselves as favorites for the individual awards.
