There was some movement on the bubble lines this past week. Which teams suffered the most in terms of Bracketology?

Another NCAA Basketball has gone by and if you were looking for some big upsets that would affect Bracketology. For the most part, there weren’t any Earth-shattering results, and the top teams in the country only lost to each other, with Duke beating Virginia and Marquette defeating Villanova as examples.

That being said, several teams in the “bubble” territory took some unkindly defeats. The number of programs in the A-10 who have at-large hopes shrunk this past week, with both Davidson and Saint Louis losing to the teams in the bottom of the conference. It has opened up room for other mid-majors, including those from the SoCon and ASUN, where multiple bids are possible.

The Big 12 had some intriguing developments, including both Baylor and Oklahoma getting swept this week. Each team is projected to be in the NCAA Tournament at the moment but another bad week will put them completely in the danger zone. Kansas split their games but with the loss of another key player, they’ll have to fight to remain one of those top protected seeds.

For this week’s version of “Bracketology Losers” I’ll be taking a closer look at the basketball going on the west coast. Although the total number of at-large bids may end up less than or equal to the number of fingers on a hand, there are plenty of consequential outcomes that’ll affect not only that region but everywhere else in college basketball.
