Indiana Basketball: Bracketology resume breakdown and outlook
Indiana basketball’s bracketology placement is very precarious right now. Is there time left to turn the season around and still make the Big Dance?
Indiana basketball is in a very tough position right now and that is something that few would have predicted just a couple of months ago. Entering this season, the Hoosiers were projected to finish near the top of the Big Ten and they were proving why early in the season while starting 12-2 (3-0 Big Ten). Over the past few weeks, though, the team has completely turned a corner and not in a good way. In fact, the Hoosiers have dropped nine of their last ten games and they have fallen dramatically in NCAA Tournament fields.
Indiana is currently in the midst of a bracketology freefall and that has the potential to spin out of control if they do not improve in the coming weeks. As of right now, the Hoosiers are still included in most projected fields but they are trending down faster than anyone else on the bubble. In our most recent bracketology update here at Busting Brackets, the team landed a No. 12 seed as one of the last teams in the field. On the entire Bracket Matrix, the Hoosiers are currently listed as a No. 11 seed and in 64 of 108 brackets.
With all of this said, it is pretty clear that Indiana’s resume deserves some investigation. In this article, I will break down where IU currently stands in all metrics used by the committee, how their record stands relative to the rest of the bubble, and determine whether or not they pass the eye test. In the end, I will analyze what the Hoosiers need to do with their remaining schedule in order to make the Big Dance.
