Maryland basketball lost the first meeting with the Purdue Boilermakers 62-60 back in December. For the Terps, Anthony Cowan Jr. led the way with 18 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Bruno Fernando had nine points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
On the Purdue side, Carson Edwards had 20 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Matt Haarms scored 10 points and pulled down six rebounds. The Boilermakers also received quality minutes from Aaron Wheeler off the bench with his 15 points.
Both teams were evenly matched shooting the ball and despite the fact that the Terps outrebounded the Boilermakers, free throws down the stretch sealed the victory for them.
The Boilermakers have been on a tear lately winning their last five in a row. They will be looking to continue that momentum as they sit in second place in the Big Ten. Edwards has been playing solid basketball for the team as the sixth best scorer in the country averaging 24.6 points per game.
Expect another close game between these two teams and watch out for the play of the frontcourts. Jalen Smith and Fernando combined for 31 points and 30 rebounds in the Terps 15-point win over Nebraska.
Maryland basketball needs this win to stay alive in the top five of the Big Ten and Purdue is looking to continue their winning ways.
Will Carson Edwards lead the Boilermakers to a season sweep or will Maryland get another win in front of their home fans?
