Mid-Major Bracketology

As touched on in the previous section, the Terriers remain the strongest mid-major bet to snag a bid outside of the “Big Three” of Gonzaga, Nevada, and Buffalo.

Gonzaga further staked their claim for a one-seed this week by dominating San Francisco and Saint Mary’s, which bodes well for the WCC in that it helps the Zags get closer to a top seed, but it also hurts the conference by destroying the last vestiges of the Dons’ at-large bandwagon.

Nevada held steady by exacting revenge on New Mexico for the blowout that gave the Wolf Pack their only loss of the season so far.

Buffalo is not yet a lock, but are close. They just need to keep taking care of business as they did this week following some tough outings in previous weeks.

Utah State’s 82-81 win over Fresno State pushed the Aggies ahead of the Bulldogs in the race for a potential second MWC bid. Utah State is up to 39 in the NET, while Fresno State is down to 76.

Lipscomb has been listed as high as a 10-seed in some bracketology predictions. The Bisons continued to dominate the ASUN this week, with a big rematch showdown with Liberty looming on Wednesday. Lipscomb cracked the top-30 of the NET rankings, while Liberty sits at 61.
