Atlantic 10 Conference

Some perspiration: None.

Double the deodorant: VCU, Davidson

VCU Rams (18-6, 9-2 A10)

VCU recorded a couple more wins during this past week as they continue to rise in national rankings. As of right now, it certainly seems as though VCU deserves to be one of the favorites to win the Atlantic 10 but they also have a legit shot at an at-large bid should they fall in the conference tournament. The Rams are rated in the top-50 in all but one metric and hold relatively competitive quadrant rankings as well. Given how weak the A10, on the whole, is this season, though, they need to continue dominating in order to land an at-large bid. There are simply too many opportunities for bad losses. Current seed projection: No. 11.

Davidson Wildcats (18-6, 9-2 A10)

Davidson is in a similar position as VCU. The Wildcats’ resume is definitely a step or two below the Rams’ but still competitive in the grand scheme of things. With only one more opportunity for a top-100 win left on the schedule, Davidson probably needs to go undefeated to finish conference play in order to stay very firmly in the bubble conversation. With that said, though, just about every bubble team has wasted their opportunities so far so the Wildcats may stick around simply because everyone else is losing. They will be a dangerous team in the A10 Tournament as well. Current seed projection: OUT.
