It’s a huge game for Tennessee Basketball as they face an angry Kentucky Wildcats team. Here are the keys for the Vols to remain unbeaten in SEC play.

It’s the fourth week in a row for Tennessee Basketball 23-1 (11-0) ranked as the No. 1 team in the country, riding a 19-game winning streak heading into this weekend. Their last win came on Wednesday in an 85-73 victory over South Carolina. Five Vols were in double figures, led by Admiral Schofield‘s 21 points and 10 rebounds.

That win allowed Rick Barnes’ team to remain on top of the SEC ahead of LSU, who defeated Kentucky 20-4 (10-2) in a last-second controversial putback field goal as time expired this week. It ended a 10-game winning streak for the Wildcats and put them two games back in the conference standings.

This has been a highly anticipated game for both teams this weekend, with Tennessee not having faced a ranked opponent since No. 1 Gonzaga two months ago. There’s no question that the Vols are one of the best teams in the country but this game against Kentucky is a great opportunity on national television to showcase their top-tier talent and potential in March.

For the Wildcats, it’s rare that they lose both games in a single week, especially when both are at home. And a loss on Saturday severely damages their hopes for an SEC title, as they would fall three whole games back.

Tennessee swept Kentucky last season in SEC play and look to continue that streak in 2019. Here are the keys for the Vols to remain victorious against the historical powerhouse.
