No. 24 Maryland basketball (19-6, 10-4 Big Ten) has won two in a row while the No. 6 Michigan Wolverines (22-3, 11-3 Big Ten) were upset by the Penn State Nittany Lions 75-69.

TV Schedule: Saturday, February 16 at Noon ET on FOX

Location: Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, MI

Maryland basketball is coming off of two big wins against Nebraska and Purdue. Now they’re up against a Michigan Wolverines team that was stunned by Penn State earlier in the week. The Terps frontcourt has been playing very well the last few games and they need that same energy against one of the best teams in the country.

This is the first meeting between these two teams this season and it is a big game for both of them. The Wolverines got the better of the Terps last season but they have a great chance to change that Saturday.

The Terps can take advantage of Penn State’s success against Michigan. In that matchup, the Nittany Lions won the battles in second chance points (13-4) and bench points (17-9).

The Boilermakers only had one mode of concrete offense in their best player Carsen Edwards. Maryland adjusted well defensively to Edwards and once they slowed him down, Purdue’s offense struggled mightily. Michigan’s offense may not be so easy to contain. They have multiple weapons at their disposal. Charles Mathews and Jordan Poole were the top scorers for the Wolverines in the loss.

The Terps will have their hands full with those two in addition to Ignas Brazdeikis and Zavier Simpson. The Wolverines may have slipped against Penn State but they will be ready for Maryland on their home floor.

The defense for both teams will be a major storyline. How will the Terps seek to neutralize all or part of the Wolverines big four? Will the Terps frontcourt be halted by the Wolverines defense?
