What we learned from Tennessee’s loss to Kentucky, Duke’s crazy week, and more takeaways from the week in the latest edition of the Rauf Report.

The NCAA Basketball season is halfway through February, less than a month away from Selection Sunday, and is providing us with the kind of endings we expect this time of year.

Duke hit a pair of free throws in the closing moments to cap a 23-point comeback against Louisville, Miami beat Clemson on a buzzer-beater, Missouri State made one after a crazy scrum at half court, and South Dakota State both lost and won games this week at the buzzer

However, no team has shown more February magic than Iowa. The Hawkeyes avoided an upset at home thanks to a three from Jordan Bohannon with less than a second remaining, and then beat Rutgers on Saturday after Joe Wieskamp banked in a three from the corner.

Yes – HE BANKED IN A THREE FROM THE CORNER.

There were also three games between ranked teams on Saturday. Michigan took care of business by easily handling Maryland, who still has not beaten a ranked team on the road under head coach Mark Turgeon. Iowa State then upset Kansas State in Manhattan, shrinking the Wildcats’ lead at the top of the Big 12.

Top-ranked Tennessee and No. 5 Kentucky squared off in the marquee game of the week. Kentucky was the favorite at home despite the Vols being No. 1 in the country and the Wildcats showed why, blowing out Tennessee in the second half on their way to an 86-69 victory.

We start this week’s Rauf Report by breaking down my biggest takeaway from that game.
