Bracketology: Wins and losses should still matter to Selection Committee
What are the teams’ quadrant records?
Next, we will add the teams’ records broken down into the NCAA’s quadrant system.
Last season, the NCAA made a tweak to their selection process by adding a quadrant system based on where teams ranked in the RPI. The RPI is no more but the quadrant system still remains, now using the NET to separate the quadrants. In each quad, teams record is based on where games are played (home, road, and neutral) and where their opponents rank in the NET, with the expectation that the better your quad 1 and 2 your record is, the better your team is. Here is how the quadrants are broken down:
Quad 1: Home games are ranked 1-30, neutral games are 1-50, road games are 1-75
Quad 2: Home games are 31-75, neutral games are 51-100, road games are 76-135
Quad 3: Home games are 76-160, neutral games are 101-200, road games are 136-240
Quad 4: Home games are 161-353, neutral games are 201-353, road games are 241-353
Here are the four teams new team sheets with the addition of their record in the first two quads with their non-conference record in parentheses.
Team A: (17-9 (7-8 in conference) NET: 51 Quad 1: 3-7 (1-0) Quad 2: 5-2 (2-1)
Team B: 22-5 (11-4 in conference) NET: 44 Quad 1: 1-4 (1-1) Quad 2: 3-0 (1-0)
Team C: 15-10 (5-7 in conference) NET: 41 Quad 1: 1-7 (0-1) Quad 2: 3-3 (2-2)
Team D: 21-4 (12-2 in conference) NET: 59 Quad 1: 2-1 (1-1) Quad 2: 3-1 (2-0)
