How He Fits At Kansas

This Kansas team has a lot of question marks on their roster. The only person we know is leaving for sure is senior, LeGerald Vick. Kansas also already has two four-star commits who have signed their letter of intent with the Jayhawks in guard Isaac McBride, and forward, Christian Braun.

They do have a handful of players who could be on their way out of Lawrence either by declaring for the NBA Draft or transferring elsewhere. Udoka Azubuike, Dedric Lawson, and Quentin Grimes are all three guys who could consider declaring for the NBA Draft. None of them are projected first-round picks but it is still something they will consider, I would expect at least one of them to enter the draft.

Then we have the guys who could consider transferring. Charlie Moore and K.J. Lawson are at the top of that list for me. Both have started to play much better recently and have already transferred so this isn’t as likely as it may have been a couple of weeks ago but it still is something they could consider.

Then finally we have Silvio De Sousa who is almost a lock to be on his way out of town. He is likely heading for the NBA Draft or maybe even a pro league overseas. With him being suspended through next season it would be very unlikely he sticks around. He is still on the team hoping for a loss harsh suspension with the appeal but I expect his days in a Kansas uniform are over.

Kansas has had a very disappointing season but it has set them up to where they should be right back near the top of the rankings in the preseason for next season. The emergence of freshmen guards Devon Dotson, and Ochai Agbaji has been fantastic. Marcus Garrett is another guy who has been a difference maker when he’s on the floor. He is an elite defender and a much improved offensive player.

Those are three guys who are expected to be back next season and will be key pieces of a national championship hopeful team. Just imagine Dotson and Ball leading the fast break with Agbaji running down the floor for alley-oops. This would be a very exciting team. For this team, they would likely need either Dedric Lawson or Azubuike to return to school.

Ball gives this team another playmaker who can score the ball from anywhere on the floor which is something this team is desperately searching for. They have other recruits such as Cassius Stanley that are options but if they aren’t able to get a top guard prospect they may want to discuss the risk of bringing in LaMelo Ball.

Kansas could always take the risk by bringing him in and chancing that he will become eligible at some point next season. It will likely take a lengthy investigation by the NCAA before any decision is made. When you have a chance to bring in an elite talent you do it and if the NCAA doesn’t make him eligible then so be it, but you have to at least explore the possibility of bringing Ball in.
