March Madness 2019: Syracuse, Maryland and Iowa State among Final Four sleepers
With the NCAA Tournament just two weeks away, these five teams are looming as potential march madness Cinderellas. Here are five sleepers that can make a run at the Final Four.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. March Madness is just TWO WEEKS away.
Every year, there seems to be a couple of overlooked teams that shine in the Big Dance. This year, you can expect much of the same.
Past the top several teams in the country, the lower seeds provide plenty of intrigue in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
Whether those teams be mid-major teams, big conference sleepers, or just plain overlooked squads, I’ve got a feeling that we’ll be seeing at least one surprise team in the Final Four.
We’ll get into those five teams in a bit, but before we get started, here’s the criteria:
The team must be a projected five seed or lower. While anything can happen with conference tournaments in the next two weeks, as of right now, all five teams on this list are currently projected as a five seed or below.
Historically, it hasn’t been easy for seeds lower than three to make a run at the Final Four. However, 11-seed Loyola-Chicago proved that to be incorrect last season, as the cinderella Ramblers executed a shocking run to the semifinals.
Given the weak group of teams outside the top ten, there is a great chance that we’ll see another seed lower than five make it to the final four this year. While the odds might not look great, anything can happen in March, and this time around, it’s going to get crazy.
Without further delay, let’s take a look at five teams (in no particular order) that are currently projected as a five seed or lower, that could make a shocking run to the Final Four in Minneapolis.
