Southeastern Conference

Lead-pipe lock: Tennessee, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Auburn

Firmly in the field: Ole Miss.

Some perspiration: Florida.

Double the deodorant: Alabama.

Ole Miss Rebels (19-11, 9-8 SEC)

Ole Miss has dropped three consecutive games and four of their past five. That basically summarizes why the Rebels are still on the bubble. In my opinion, they need just one more win to feel extremely safe but they probably do not even need that. Head coach Kermit Davis has done a tremendous job so far this season and this team will dance. I don’t think there is that much to say about Ole Miss right now except that I hope they get back on track. This team will make the Big Dance.

Current Bracketology Status: No. 9 seed.

Florida Gators (17-13, 9-8 SEC)

Florida moved safely into my NCAA Tournament field after winning five consecutive games in February. Since the turn of the month, though, the Gators have dropped two in a row and that included a disastrous home loss to Georgia. This team is still relatively safe with regards to making the NCAA Tournament, in my opinion, but they need another win. That might not come in the regular season, though, as they finish the year with Kentucky on the road. Regardless, they should be able to secure a victory in the SECT. This team is too good to lose four in a row.

Current Bracketology Status: No. 10 seed.

Alabama Crimson Tide (17-13, 8-9 SEC)

Alabama has been incredibly inconsistent so far this season and that is why they are on the bubble. During this past week, the Crimson Tide missed two crucial home opportunities by dropping both of their matchups with LSU and Auburn. Due to the fact that neither of these losses was “resume-crippling”, they are still right in the hunt for an NCAA Tournament bid but they need at least one more win. That will not be easy, though, as the Tide finish the regular season with Arkansas on the road before the SECT. One total win might allow Avery Johnson and Co. to dance but they need two to feel relatively safe.

Current Bracketology Status: No. 12 seed (Last Four In).
