CAA Bracketology

The CAA is known for the great Cinderellas runs of VCU and George Mason, but sadly that didn’t translate to the conference becoming a multi-bid league. Virtually every school has had postseason success has left the conference. VCU and George Mason moved to the Atlantic 10, and Georgia State moved to the Sun Belt. Because of that, this is a still a one-bid league. Despite Hofstra’s fantastic season, it’s looking like they have to win the CAA tournament in order to land a spot in the Big Dance.

If Hofstra wins the CAA, they will either be an 11 or 12 seed in the NCAA tournament, which represents the best a mid-major team can do outside of the Gonzaga’s and Nevada’s of the world. If Charleston or Northeastern win I’d expect a 12 or 13 seed coming for them, and probably a 14 seed for any other school that wins the conference.

Hofstra is currently ranked 68th in the NET rankings. Northeastern is 82nd, and College of Charleston is 109th. Elon is dead last despite their 7 seed mark in the conference, as they’re sitting at 273rd in the NET rankings.
