Prediction

Although a case could be made for the other five teams that I mentioned in this article — and probably even a few others — this is VCU’s year. It would be fantastic for the A10 if another team could take them down and therefore put a second representative in the NCAA Tournament (the Rams will be in no matter what), but it just seems like too much to ask with the Rams being as talented and as hot as they are right now.

Considering that they won sixteen of their eighteen conference matchups, the Rams would likely be an attractive pick no matter how many games they had to win. The fact that they only have to win three, however, essentially makes them impossible to bet against (at least, I personally don’t have the moxie to do so).

With the games being held at neutral site, especially one closer to so many other A10 schools than it is to VCU, and with every team putting out season-saving levels of effort, it’s unlikely that VCU will be running over opponents like they recently have been at the Siegel Center, but their defense and confidence should still be more than enough to carry them through to the closing ceremonies. If they are in fact able to get there, the team that was once picked to finish in seventh will deserve every bit of applause that they receive.
