6. Oklahoma Sooners (19-12, 7-11 Conference Play)

The Good

Oklahoma managed to not miss a beat without Trae Young, amazingly becoming better as a team following the absence of one of the best players in program history.

Christian James had an incredible senior season, leading the Sooners to a surprising season that began with fairly low expectations.

The Sooners blew through their non-conference schedule, and performed solid in Conference play, en route to a likely second-consecutive NCAA tournament berth.

The Bad

Oklahoma had a rough stretch in the middle of the season, losing six consecutive games.

The Sooners had big trouble against better teams, which kept them around the level of mediocrity.

Oklahoma did stay healthy, but behind James, nobody really had a breakout year. Everyone performed around as was expected for Oklahoma.

The Bottom Line

Oklahoma will certainly finish the season in the NCAA tournament, which is very impressive considering what was lost. Lon Kruger’s group didn’t exactly maintain the bar set during non-conference play, but Oklahoma had a successful season nonetheless.
