Marquette and Villanova might be the headlining teams at the Big East Basketball Tournament but anyone can win. Who will take MSG by storm?

The entire conference schedule is complete and I’m still not sure anyone really understands what is going on in Big East basketball. Easily one of the most competitive leagues in the entire nation, the Big East is a jumbled mess of average with two strong teams at the top in Marquette and Villanova. With the last-place teams just two games behind those tied for third place, it is easy to see why the Big East Tournament could be the most fun event of the entire conference tournament week.

Over the course of four days during this week, Madison Square Garden will play host to this potentially outrageous event. I know this sounds strange but I really mean it: All 10 teams have a legitimate shot to win the Big East Tournament this year. Even though this might not be the most talented version of the conference, the parity level is off the charts and that should make for an extremely engaging week in the Big Apple.

Of course, it is still possible that “chalk” wins out and the favored teams win each game but that seems unlikely given the way the regular season played out. Each team has the ability to beat all of the other nine teams in the league and I can’t wait to see exactly how the event plays out. Historically speaking, Villanova (who is the No. 1 seed this year) has won the BET in three of the five years since realignment and they should be the favorite once again.

Now, without any further ado, let’s dive into previewing the Big East Basketball Tournament.
