Butler basketball needs to win the Big East Tournament in order to keep their NCAA Tournament streak alive. What will it take to make that miracle run?
Butler basketball season is not yet over. At-large chances were certainly dashed over the past couple of weeks but the nature of conference tournaments reincarnates hope for all teams that are on the “outside looking in” of the Big Dance. While it is never easy for a power conference team to come out of the opening day to win their league tournament, it is not unheard of. And for those who have followed Big East basketball so far this season, anything – and I mean anything – could happen at Madison Square Garden.
This means that Butler fans should not yet give up all hope of reaching the NCAA Tournament, at least for the next day or so, that is. With Kamar Baldwin leading the way, the Bulldogs have the star needed to make a run over several days and secure the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, it doesn’t hurt that Butler is one of the deepest teams in the league and that allows for the potential to win four games in as many days.
With that said, winning the Big East Tournament is an incredibly difficult task. Even though Butler has the potential to beat anyone in the league, the same works in reverse as anyone could beat Butler. For the time being, though, clinging onto the glimmer of hope that the BET represents is totally reasonable. So, with Butler’s opening-round matchup with Providence looming, let’s take a look at four potential keys to success in the Big Apple.
