This year, the Aggies’ lack of quality wins will work against them on Selection Sunday, but their consistent play and performance should be enough to push them to the 12-seed line. Despite the consistent success in the WAC, New Mexico State has not won a single NCAA Tournament games since 1993. However, this team is a true threat to upset a five seed, and is probably the only team with Cinderella potential in the WAC.

If one of the other schools were to upset the Aggies, their position in the brackets would not be as high. Both Grand Canyon and Utah Valley have done enough to warrant a 14-seed at best, but the remainder of the conference would be lucky to avoid Dayton. The chances that none of these three teams wins the WAC Tournament is not high, but if it were to happen, the conference would definitely be subject to early blowout.

For as good as New Mexico State has been, they have virtually no shot at an at-large bid, making the WAC one-bid conference. For this reason, an Aggies victory would lead to the best chance at a good NCAA Tournament showing.
