Fifth-seeded Maryland Basketball (22-9) and 13th seeded Nebraska basketball (17-15) are taking the court for the third time on the Big Ten tournament stage for a chance to play the Wisconsin Badgers Friday.

TV Schedule: Thursday,  March 14 at 3:00 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network (BTN)

Location: United Center in Chicago, IL

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are coming off of a 68-61 win over Rutgers and an outstanding performance from James Palmer Jr. He finished with 34 points which marked the second-highest scoring game in Big Ten Tournament history. While Palmer Jr.’s 34 points were impressive, as a team Nebraska was extremely aggressive in the paint.

They took 32 free throw attempts and made 23 of them at a 71 percent rate. In addition to that, they caused 22 Rutgers turnovers, 12 of them were steals. What has Maryland’s biggest problem been this season? Taking care of the basketball.

Maryland basketball has gotten the best of Nebraska twice this season and with the way Palmer Jr. played last night, the Maryland native will be on a mission to change his team’s fate against the Terps and advance to play Wisconsin.

What Maryland was able to do well the last time these two teams played each other was use their frontcourt to take advantage of Nebraska defensively. Bruno Fernando and Jalen Smith had double-doubles in that game and the Terps won the battle on the boards 53-42. The Terps as a team are a rebounding machine and they rank second in the Big Ten with 39.4 rebounds per game behind Michigan State’s 41.4 rebounds per game.

The Terps can’t afford to give the ball away at a high rate because if they get to that 15-20 plus turnover margin, they will lose. Rebounding won’t save them, attacking the basket and making free throws won’t save them either if that’s the case.

Maryland Basketball comes into this tournament well rested having a first round bye so they should be fresh and ready to play. Nebraska, on the other hand, is hungry for a win against the Terps so this game should be very entertaining.
