UNC Basketball’s bid for the ACC Tournament title starts on Thursday with a 7:00 pm EST matchup with the Louisville Cardinals. What do the Heels need to do in order to advance to the semi-finals?

ACC Tournament play resumes on Thursday with a quartet of afternoon matchups featuring some of the league’s best teams, including the second-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (25–6, 16–2 ACC) in a 7:00 pm battle with the seventh-seeded Louisville Cardinals (20–12, 11–8 ACC).

After a 75–53 handling of the lowly Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday, the Cardinals continue their pursuit of an improved resumé with Selection Sunday just days away. A win on Thursday would give the Cardinals their first semi-finals berth since joining the ACC in 2014–15, an impressive feat for the program and even more so for Chris Mack’s first year coaching Louisville.

On the other end of the matchup is a red-hot Tar Heel team that’s coming off of a double-bye and a senior night victory over the Zion-less Duke Blue Devils. Winners of 14 of its last 15 games (by a healthy margin of 13.8 points), UNC Basketball is looking to add more hardware to its collection, hoping to win more than just the ACC regular season title.

Thursday’s game presents the third meeting of the two teams this season, with the season series getting split 1–1 with both teams winning in enemy territory. With a neutral site matchup in Charlotte, NC, it’ll be interesting to see how both teams fair.

What will the Tar Heels need to focus on if they want to advance to the ACC semi-finals?
