Nebraska Basketball had high expectations entering the season. They had what many argued their best roster in program history. Did not living up to the expectations cost Tim Miles his job?

Expectations, whether they come from the Athletic Department, media or the fan base. If a Coach or a team does not meet expectations to many times, they will usually be looking for a new job. What is a program with no history, zero NCAA tournament wins, and a long list of coaches who have failed to do when their team does not meet the loftiest expectations they have had in their history?

This is the interesting position Nebraska found themselves in this year. The Huskers won 22 games last season and were snubbed from the NCAA tournament and were almost snubbed from the NIT a year ago as well. The Expectations with Nebraska came about because 4 out of the 5 starters from the 22-win team returned and a top 150 recruit in Thomas Allen was inserted in the starting lineup.

Everything was going to plan as the Huskers closed the non-conference season 11-1. Heading into the new year Nebraska held a 14-4 record and looked locked into getting a very high seed in the NCAA tournament. January and February arrived, and Huskers looked like they had lost the fire they once had, and they were having a terrible time on the court winning games they should have won.

The lofty expectations appeared they were not going to be met by the team, and head Coach Tim Miles would be let go. It appears that not even a late season run to the NIT can save Miles job at this point.
