Kansas Jayhawks

The Kansas Jayhawks have not been a very good basketball team for the past couple of months. They were the preseason #1 coming into the season but injuries and off the court drama have kept them from reaching their full potential.

When they did have Udoka Azubuike and Lagerald Vick they picked up some big wins that help their resume out tremendously. If they didn’t have Vick’s clutch shots in some games it’s possible they’d be a five or six seed rather than a three or four.

The Jayhawks are ranked just 19th in the NET which is crazy considering the quality wins they have but it might even be too high for them when you watch them play. They have three neutral court wins as good as anybody in the country as they beat Michigan State, Tennessee, and Marquette. Those wins did take place in November so it is a different Kansas team now but those wins will still impact their seeding in a big way.

They do have some big home wins as well including Texas Tech and Wofford. They have an 11-8 record against quad 1 while going 14-1 against the rest of their schedule with that loss coming at West Virginia.

The Jayhawks are used to having a home court advantage in the NCAA Tournament but that may not be the case this season. They have a chance to play in Tulsa while also being in the Kansas City region but as a three or four seed it’s hard for the committee to justify giving them homecourt advantage over the higher seeds.

Prediction: 4 seed
