After falling in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament, the Horned Frogs enter Selection Sunday firmly on the bubble. Here is why TCU Basketball deserves to be in the NCAA Tournament.

Several months of basketball all come down to this. On Selection Sunday, TCU Basketball will learn its fate.

After a season filled with adversity, ups, downs, and a good deal of time sitting on the bubble, all the TCU Horned Frogs can do is wait.

The Horned Frogs fell to top-seeded Kansas State in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament after defeating Oklahoma State in the first round. The Horned Frogs initially were projected to only need one win in the Big 12 tournament in order to solidify a spot in the Big Dance, but after a couple of bids were stolen (A-10, potentially the MWC and Pac 12), TCU remains on the bubble.

Before diving deeper into why exactly TCU should be in the NCAA Tournament, let’s take a look at TCU’s statistics:

Record: 20-13, 8-12 Conference Play

Good Wins: Iowa State (twice), Texas (twice), Baylor, Florida.

Bad Losses: None.

KenPom: 48

NET: 50

Strength of Schedule: 24

Based purely off of TCU’s numbers, they should be in the tournament. However, when compared to other bubble teams, TCU’s status in the NCAA Tournament only gets clearer and clearer.

Ultimately, no one factor will decide TCU’s fate. The selection committee will conduct a thorough analysis on the Horned Frogs, and in the end, only they can determine if TCU is a worthy tournament team.

On the plus side, we have all of the same resources as the selection committee. They’ll be looking at the same rankings, record, strength of schedule, and other factors. In a basic analysis of the aforementioned factors, TCU is without a doubt an NCAA Tournament team.

Let’s dive deeper, shall we?
