No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama was another that picked up quite a bit of wins over teams in the Tournament, but the committee chose to leave them out. The Crimson Tide did struggle a little in the non-conference, but technically speaking, all four teams made the NCAA Tournament. Northeastern and Georgia State ended up winning their conference tournaments. While UCF and Baylor got at-large bids.

The SEC ultimately got seven teams in the NCAA Tournament. The Tide picked up four NCAA Tournament wins throughout the SEC season. They kicked things off in great fashion with a win over Kentucky. The Wildcats went on to win a lot of games after that match up. The Crimson Ted couldn’t quite put together a major winning streak, but they had some nice wins. They looked great against a ranked team at the time, Ole Miss. Alabama then beat Mississippi State at home who was ranked as well.

The Crimson Tide hadn’t won more than two games in a row, but their longest losing streak was just three which happened twice. The biggest losses during that eight game stretch was to Texas A&M and Arkansas. Both the Aggies and Razorbacks didn’t have terrible metrics and they were both road games.

Alabama got matched up with the Rebels in the SEC Tournament and beat them again. That was huge. They avoided finishing just two games over .500 and the win was to a team that was going to make the NCAA Tournament. The Tide did end up losing to Kentucky, but the Wildcats are well the Wildcats.

They went into the clubhouse with a top-60 NET. They were right around that ranking in just about every metric as well. Lukas had the Crimson in his considered section and just four bracketologists had them in their field. But the win against Kentucky should be taken into consideration including beating Ole Miss twice, but they were just left out.
