The brackets have been released, how successful will the four No. 7 seeds in this year’s NCAA Tournament?  Should we buy or sell them this year?

The toughest spot to be in when the brackets are revealed is in the No.8/No. 9 game, knowing if you win it you have to play the top seed. At the bottom of the bracket, that dubious spot goes to the teams in the No.7/No. 10 matchups, with the winner of that game having the second-seeded team on tap.

With that in mind, the 7/10 matchup has been a prime spot for first-round upsets, so how successful will the No. 7 seeds be in this year’s tournament? Tough to tell as this year’s crop runs the gamut, from a mid-major darling in Wofford to teams that have struggled and stumbled of late like Louisville and Nevada.

Let’s look at these year’s No.7 seeds and decide what the future of the NCAA Tournament holds for Louisville, Nevada, Cincinnati, and Wofford.

Louisville Cardinals 20-13 (10-8 in the ACC)

1st Round Opponent: #10 Minnesota (Thursday 3/21 @ 12:15PM)

Chris Mack’s Cardinals have really struggled, especially offensively, since beating No. 11 Virginia Tech on Feb. 4 they have gone 3-7 and scored over 70 points just three times in that time. While sophomore Jordan Nwora has been productive down the stretch, the lack of consistent production from others on the roster has really hurt Louisville.

In their first-round game, the Cardinals face a Minnesota team that has had an equally difficult time finding its footing late in the season. Richard Pitino’s Golden Gophers finishing just 5-8 over their final 13 games heading into the Big Dance. Two of those wins did come against Purdue, including one in the Big Ten Tournament.

While the matchup with Minnesota might be a tossup, with a tough, hot Michigan State team likely up next for the winner, even if Louisville gets by Minnesota, I can’t see them surviving past Saturday.

Verdict: Sell
