Ahmad Caver, Old Dominion, 14 Seed: The longer the bracket sits, the more I’m feeling like Carsen Edwards is in for a rough Thursday; enter Ahmad Caver and the Old Dominion Monarchs. Caver, one of two ODU players considered for this spot, is a Jack-of-all-trades type guard, boasting an 16.5 PPG, 5.6 APG and 4.3 RPG stat line this season.

Along side BJ Stith and Xavier Green, this could be one of the more tempting upsets to pick in the first round of the tournament. Old Dominion could role out a team worthy of a few different mentions, but for now, Caver should be the driving force behind a team who could be one of the more likely Bracket Busters.

Malik Fitts, Saint Mary’s, 11 Seed: It feels like Saint Mary’s is a perennial Bubble Team on a yearly basis, and this year was no different as they drew 6 seed Villanova.  With how the Wildcats season has played out and how it’s been so up-and-down, it leaves them susceptible to being beaten by the Gaels.  6’8″ Sophomore, Malik Fitts, could be one of the key factors in this outcome.

His ability to score the ball (15.8) and rebound (7.6) make him a threat on both ends, which could in turn open up for star guard Jordan Ford to lead the way.  However, it’s conceivable that if Fitts does the dirty work, then Jordan Ford could help seal the deal.

Louis King, Oregon, 12 Seed: After losing Bol Bol for the season, the shine had seemingly worn off the apple for the Ducks.  Once the spotlight was turned off, it seemed as though the Ducks began to thrive.  Becoming a bid stealer by winning the Pac 12, the Ducks seem to have a nice buzz around them heading into the dance.  Without Bol, Oregon has looked to their other big name Freshman, Louis King, to be their driving force.

His 12.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per outing speak to the gradual progression and development of the Jersey City native, and former 5-star recruit, could also be eluding to the breakout game many have come to expect from the leader of the Oregon Ducks.
