Will this March be all about Zion?

Well, yes, after all, have you watched ESPN since October? The four-letter network should be renamed ZION. Don’t blame Williamson, though. He is a rare talent who is arguably one of the better college players in the last 25-30 years. While he won’t possess a number of records as some of the past greats, his impact is massive.

Duke has other standout talents in R.J. Barrett, Cam Reddish and Tre Jones. Barrett and Reddish will be top-five picks in the upcoming NBA draft. But Duke goes from being a contender without Williamson to the overwhelming favorite with him. Williamson can score from all levels and gets to the foul line with ease. When the Blue Devils need a basket, give it to Zion and get out of the way. He can drive the lane, post up or connect from downtown. The defense can know what’s coming with Williamson, yet be helpless to stop him.

The Blue Devils always have elite talent. It’s why they’ve won so many national titles over the years. However, they’ve never had a player like Zion Williamson. And Williamson is the biggest reason why most brackets have Duke reigning supreme.

College basketball fans should enjoy Zion over these next few weeks, regardless of your rooting interest, because there may never be another player like him who steps foot on a college campus.
