4. Between Villanova and Seton Hall, which is more likely to make a run in the tournament?

Brian Foley

Villanova. Jay Wright is a wizard, Phil Booth and Eric Paschall have the requisite experience, and VU came away with one of the most favorable draws in the entire bracket. Hartford will also be loaded with nearby Wildcat fans, a certain disadvantage for no. 11 seed St. Mary’s on Thursday, and potentially no. 3 seed Purdue on Saturday.

Zac Voynow

Villanova has a better chance to make a deep tournament run, but it’s very close. I chose Villanova because they have more favorable matchups, not to mention they have Jay Wright and Phil Booth. I love Kevin Willard and Myles Powell for Seton Hall, but experience really matters in March.

Connor Hope

Villanova’s bracket is set up for the Wildcats to make a run. I would even argue that their first round game against Saint Mary’s could be tougher for them than the second round game against Old Dominion or Purdue. This Villanova team is will coached, has players who have been there, and doesn’t need to deal with a back-to-back against Wofford and Kentucky, which should spell doom for the Pirates.

Marcus Washington

Villanova. A lot of that is based on their draw. They still have experience from their National Championship team and that should carry them against St. Mary. In round 2, they would be looking at a Purdue team that’s lost to Minnesota twice or Conference USA champion, Old Dominion. Both are very winnable. Seton Hall must beat Wofford and then could face a Kentucky team they beat on a neutral floor earlier in the season. Unfortunately for Seton Hall, Kentucky is leaps and bounds better than they were early on. Furthermore, the game would be in Jacksonville, FL (SEC country) and not Madison Square Garden.
