Which trendy and seemingly trustworthy teams this NCAA Tournament season should be avoided when making a bracket.

Every year there are trendy or trustworthy teams in the NCAA Tournament that everyone seems to get behind right before the tournament starts. There are always perennials who many think will not let them down and are safer than they may appear, and there are always trendy underdogs who everyone collectively thinks will make a farther than expected run in the tournament. Last year it was sixteen seeded Penn of all teams many got behind to defeat Kansas in the first round.

This list is composed of both types of team, as well as some in between who are facing their own unique challenge to make a deep run in the tournament. To keep it diverse, this is not just a list of contenders who will not make it to the Final Four. It includes lower seeds who may have higher hopes than a single first round win but will prove not to be capable of making it to the second weekend.

For the purpose of each of these picks, therefore, the definition of a deep run will vary depending on the seed of the team and their expectations. Obviously a deep run for a twelve seed and a deep run for a one seed can be very different.

Without farther delay, let’s get into the teams that will prove not to be worth counting on making runs in this year’s tournament.
