Villanova: 6 seed in the South

The Wildcats are one of those teams I expect many people to put a lot of trust in due to past performance and their place in the bracket. They are a team over the past three years that have shown tournament dominance on the way to two championships. They are in a region with Virginia, Tennessee, and Purdue as the top teams, none of which have shown the ability recently to make a deep run in the tournament.

Despite this, this is not the year to put Villanova in your Elite Eight. They have the ability to make a run to the Sweet Sixteen, but I do not see them pulling off two upsets in a row and making it past Tennessee.

Anything past that is wishful thinking and will end in a busted bracket. St. Mary’s is a tough first round match up and Villanova is a team that has shown the ability in years past to flame out early. I think this will be one of those years for Villanova where they are more likely to flame out early, even as early as the first round against the Gaels.
