LSU Basketball: Why Tigers will prevail over Yale in 2019 NCAA Tournament
2. LSU is too big inside
Yale was the second best rebounding team in the Ivy League in the regular season, but comparatively to LSU, they are vastly undersized.
The Bulldogs starting front court is 6’6, 6’7, and 6’9 respectively but LSU is just bigger. Reid stands at 6’10 while Bigby-Williams is 6’11. They also have Marlon Taylor who is an athletic 6’6 wing with the defensive ability to shut down Yale’s best player, Miye Oni.
If Reid or Bigby-Williams gets in foul trouble, LSU can look to Emmitt Williams or Darius Days off the bench. Simply put, LSU has too much size and depth up front for the Bulldogs to have an advantage there.
As a traditional Ivy League team, Yale wouldn’t normally have the size to go head-to-head with power conference teams. But against a foe with the size such as the Tigers, it’s even a bigger problem.
