March Madness: 10 key seniors for the 2019 NCAA Tournament
6. Phil Booth, Guard, Villanova
Every year, with the exception of last season’s championship, the Villanova Wildcats seem to have a star senior or two that lead them throughout the regular season and post season.
Ryan Arcidiacono, Daniel Ochefu, Josh Hart, and Kris Jenkins are just a couple names that come to mind when you think of superstar seniors that have made major impacts on the Villanova Wildcats.
This year, the Wildcats have their star senior, as they vie for a third championship in four years.
That senior is Phil Booth. Booth played big roles, whether it be in the starting lineup or off the bench, on both of his Championship teams at Villanova, but he has never played a role bigger than the one that he will play during this Tournament, as the primary scorer for Villanova.
And as a six seed, his lowest seed by far in his tournament career, his task as the leader of the Wildcats is even harder.
Villanova will have a very challenging trip to the NCAA Tournament, and with a very thin and inexperienced roster, Villanova’s play making will need to be excellent from their big name players.
Booth is their biggest-name player, and Villanova will need some major performances from Booth in order for them to continue their March hot streak.
This year might be a whole lot more unlikely than in years past, but nonetheless, as the star player on Villanova, Phil Booth is certainly a key senior this NCAA Tournament.
