Big 12 Basketball had a good round one performance in the NCAA Tournament. After getting three teams to the Elite Eight a year ago they wanted a good performance again this season and they got off to a good start.

Big 12 Basketball is thought of as one of the best conferences in the country and they came to play in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. They went 5-1 in the first round with the only loss coming from Kansas State as they were upset by 13th seeded UC Irvine.

The Wildcats were playing without Wade so it was going to be tough for them to win, but after the season they had, it is very disappointing to lose in the first round. Most of the Big 12 teams have had up and down seasons and we witnessed a few teams play some of their best basketball in wins.

Oklahoma and Kansas both made absolute statements in their blowout wins. These are two of the most inconsistent teams in college basketball, but they were both amazing in their respective wins. We also saw Baylor light up the Syracuse zone as they advance to face top-seeded Gonzaga.

Texas Tech also took care of business behind the best player in the conference. Iowa State showed us that conference tournaments are meaningless as their season ended with a loss against Ohio State. Overall the Big 12 had a successful first round with a 4-2 record and here are some of the top takeaways from the action.
