Billy Lange

Lange’s resume is pretty impressive; the Haddon Heights, NJ native and Bishop Eustace and Rowan University alum is a current assistant on Brett Brown’s staff for the Sixers, and has served under legends Herb Magee, Speedy Morris, and Jay Wright in area college hoops. The chatter around him isn’t as loud as some of the other guys, but this would be an outstanding hire in all likelihood.

Bruiser Flint

Some claimed the job was all but his when the announcement was first made about Martelli’s fate this week, but that’s far from the case. The current Indiana assistant and Philly native played at Saint Joe’s in the 80’s, and held the head coaching position at Drexel for fifteen years, earning CAA coach of the year honors four times. He was also the head coach at UMass for five years. If SJU wants experience and strong local ties, look no further than Flint.

Dwayne Killings

Killings has been coaching since he graduated college in 2003, and has division one and NBA experience. He held different positions in two stints with Temple, and is currently an assistant with Marquette. He’s never been a head coach, but might get an interview for the Hawks job.

Ryan Ayers

The Blue Bell, PA native played his high school ball at Germantown Academy before going to Notre Dame. He’s currently an assistant at Notre Dame, and previously held a spot on the Bucknell staff after wrapping up his professional career.

Kyle Neptune

Next up from the Villanova coaching tree is assistant Kyle Neptune. Jay Wright speaks very highly of Neptune as a coach, who’s been on the Cats’ staff since 2013. Anyone coaching next to Jay Wright will likely have the opportunity to take over a program at some point and at some level, but I’m not sure the optics would be great if Saint Joe’s brought on someone that was passed over by rival La Salle when they chose Ash Howard from that staff last year.
