Ty Jerome – Virginia

Now it is time to get to the guards for the All-ACC Tournament Team and we have to start with the potential favorite for the Final Four Most Outstanding Player, Ty Jerome. Jerome is steadily increasing his draft stock game after game in the Tournament with his command of the floor and the offense as the court general for the Virginia Cavaliers.

What is making Jerome so valuable to the Cavaliers team is his ball security; he currently tallies an assist to turnover ratio greater than 3:1 in the Tournament. Jerome plays smart and is able to get his teammates, specifically Kyle Guy, open for quality shots. I know people have said it before, but this Virginia team just feels different. It is true. Granted, they do still play a slow pace of play and they are still a defensively focused team. The difference, however, is the growth of Jerome who acts as an extension of Tony Bennett out on the floor.

Jerome willed the Cavaliers to victory against a Purdue team that had Carsen Edwards produce one of the greatest shooting performances in NCAA Tournament history. Jerome’s stat line of 24 points, seven assists and five rebounds, along with playing the entire 45 minutes, including overtime, was overshadowed by Guy’s 25-point performance, included a monster second half.

However, Virginia does not get the chance for the last second shot to send the game to overtime, let alone win, without the performance and effect of Jerome.
