Texas Tech Basketball were one of the least likely Final Four teams heading into the season but defied all odds en route to their first-ever Final Four. How did the Red Raiders make it this far?

Texas Tech Basketball are far from a Cinderella story, however, they certainly are not the most typical Final Four squad.

The Red Raiders dominated the competition as a three seed in the NCAA Tournament, knocking off Northern Kentucky, Buffalo, and Michigan by double-digits, and outlasting a heavily favored Gonzaga team.

Texas Tech Basketball has sailed very smoothly throughout the season, looking the part as a true contender, but never quite reaching the national status of a Final Four-caliber group.

Despite playing exceptionally well in non-conference and conference play, Texas Tech seemed to fly under the radar for the entire season. Maybe the Red Raiders operate better with the attention off, but the lack of attention paid to Texas Tech was disproportionate to the spectacular season that they had.

Texas Tech’s road won’t get any easier in Minneapolis, as they’ll take on Michigan State, a two seed, in the Final Four. The Red Raiders have defied odds all season, and certainly will not be an easy out for any team in their final games of the season.

Texas Tech’s journey wasn’t without its bumps, but the Red Raiders’ run to the Final Four was one that had materialized from start to finish.

From a virtually unknown team heading into the season to a Championship contender at the conclusion of the season, here is how the Texas Tech Red Raiders have reached the Final Four.
