Texas Tech Basketball: How Red Raiders reached the 2019 Final Four
What would a National Championship mean to Texas Tech’s program
Short answer: EVERYTHING.
Texas Tech is a football school above all. The Red Raiders are defined by their success in the Big 12 for football and have long been at the bottom of the Big 12, all the way up until Chris Beard took over three years ago.
Despite their recent success, Texas Tech still does not recruit well. A national championship would do wonders for recruiting, as the Red Raiders could turn into a recruiting powerhouse, much like another former small recruiting school in Villanova.
Finally, a National championship for Texas Tech would be the first in school history. The Red Raiders are not a basketball school and never have been. A national championship would easily change the way that Texas Tech’s basketball program is viewed by the country, as the Red Raiders would become a well-respected program, with a championship under their belt, and the most important title for recruiting.
The biggest weekend in the history of Texas Tech basketball will begin on Saturday when the Red Raiders will take on the Michigan State Spartans in their first-ever Final Four. With a win, Texas Tech will be just one game away from winning their first National Championship in school history.
