8. Georgia Bulldogs

At first glance, this might be too high for a team that only won two games in the SEC last year, but I believe that this will be a pivotal season for the Bulldogs. It’s Tom Crean’s second year as Georgia’s head coach, and this will be his first recruiting class that is completely his. In this class, Crean got four of the top 100 players coming out of high school, including a five-star prospect in Anthony Edwards. Edwards is also the second-best player in this class, and it shows that Crean can recruit the Atlanta area. Needless to say, this is the type of class that changes things in a hurry.

Adding this young group of talented players with Nicolas Claxton is a recipe for success for Georgia. This year, Claxton led the team in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks, along with being second on the team with assists. He had to do absolutely everything on both sides of the ball for the Bulldogs. With these new talents, that is no longer the case.

The biggest concern for this team will be the point guard position. There is tons of talent, but most of it is on the wings. Unless Edwards shifts to a score-first point guard, the “1” position will be one of the weakest on the team.

Assuming they fix their problems at point guard, there will still be some growing pains for UGA. I wouldn’t be shocked if they have some growing pains early in the year, but this team should be able to gel before the brunt of their SEC schedule. If so, they will be dangerous.
