Who shined in the 2019 NCAA Tournament for Big Ten Basketball? Here’s a look at the conference’s best performers in the Big Dance.

Fans of Big Ten Basketball saw some good team games being played and even better individual performances had by some of the Big Ten’s best players. The Maryland Terrapins gave the college basketball world a back and forth battle in the round of 32 up until the final shot in an LSU 69-67 victory. Bruno Fernando makes the cut for the conference’s NCAA All-Tournament team and had 10 points and 15 rebounds in that loss.

Elsewhere, the Iowa Hawkeyes fought all the way back to tie the game at 71 as time expired in regulation against the Tennessee Volunteers in their second-round matchup. The Volunteers outscored the Hawkeyes 12-6 to beat Iowa 83-77 in overtime and move on to the Sweet 16. They lost to the Carsen Edwards led Purdue Boilermakers 99-94 in a game where Edwards scored 29 points and Ryan Cline scored 27. Both players were a combined 18-for-35 (51 percent) shooting from the field.

The matchup that everyone had been waiting for in the NCAA Tournament finally happened in the Elite Eight. The Duke Blue Devils against the Michigan State Spartans did not disappoint. While Zion Williamson played an outstanding game for the Blue Devils scoring 24 points and pulling down 14 rebounds, it was Cassius Winston and Xavier Tillman who led the Spartans to the Final Four. Winston finished that game with 20 points and 10 assists while Tillman finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the 69-68 Spartan victory.

Big Ten Basketball finished second behind the ACC in 2019 NCAA Tournament wins with a record of 13-8. Who were the players most responsible for the conference’s success?
