7. Jim Christian – Boston College

Boston College is another program much like Wake Forest who is still searching for the coach to get them to the promised land and turn their fortunes around. Coach Christian does not appear to be making any headway in that department. The Eagles were another team who had a great run in the early 2000’s behind former coach Al Skinner, but have never been able to reach that level of success again.

Christian came to Boston College after two years at Ohio. The stint at Ohio did not lead to any NCAA tournament appearances but showed that Ohio was trending in the right direction. In his career, the Boston College head man has shown great success at mid major programs like Kent State and Ohio, but at his power jobs in TCU and Boston College he has had no success. Under the direction of Chiristian, the Eagles have experienced their worst season in history and a 5 seed in the NIT. Like Manning, Christian has been given five years to turn the program around.

One quality that Christian does have is he is a great recruiter. The Eagles get lost by developing that talent. It is great to have a good recruiter as a coach of your program, but if those players, outside of superstar Ky Bowman, never get any better is the coach worth keeping?  The expectations for Boston College were to at least get back to the NIT or make the NCAA tournament this season. They were no close to either this season and do not appear close as a program. A fresh face would do this program wonders.
