What to expect with Cole Anthony

The new Tar Heel has basketball bloodlines with NBA aspirations. His father is former NBA player and current basketball analyst for CBS and Yahoo sports, Greg Anthony. Rest assured the younger Anthony left his father’s shadow a long time ago. All the hype surrounding the five-star recruit is warranted and self-made. His commitment comes at the right time as it is expected that the guard steps in a takes over the reins of the offense for Coby White.

Anyone who follows recruiting should know the prestige that comes with Oak Hill Academy. The Academy has produced such players as Carmelo Anthony, Josh Smith, Kevin Durant, Rajon Rondo and Jerry Stackhouse. The basketball team churns out many top recruits every season, and Anthony is next in a long line of tremendous players to have played there.

The guard like many of the top recruits in the country appears to be a one and done prospect. His game is tailored for the NBA, and there is not much he cannot do on the floor. He appears to have perfected the no-look pass after using his ability to get into the paint. He’s also an aggressive player who moves downhill towards the basket, where he usually finishes with a dunk. Anthony is a tremendous shooter and ball handler to go along with the rest of his flashiness.

One thing that North Carolina fans will love that every other team will hate, is the swag that Anthony plays with. He plays the game with a confidence and attitude that is going to rub many who oppose North Carolina the wrong way. His extreme confidence enables Anthony to play larger than life, and for the years he plays in Chapel Hill is going to result in a great number of wins and highlight reel plays. The guard makes winning plays and has been on winning programs. Couple the winning with the swagger and that is a recipe for disaster for the opponents on most nights.
