2018 five-star recruit Jahvon Quinerly had one of the more disappointing NCAA Basketball freshmen seasons. However, he is very talented and drawing a lot of interest in the transfer market.

Former Villanova Wildcat Jahvon Quinerly has heard from a lot of schools since announcing his intention to transfer following the completion of the spring semester. Arkansas, Alabama, Pittsburgh, SMU, Wake Forest, Colorado, Florida State, Nebraska, Cincinnati, Baylor, and Oregon are among the NCAA Basketball schools that have reached out to Quinerly, according to Jeff Borzello of ESPN.

Quinerly averaged 3.2 points and shot a paltry 33.1% from the floor and 25% from beyond the arc over 10 minutes a game in 25 appearances this past season. However, he saw just one minute of action in the Wildcats’ final eight games and did not get off the bench in any of the team’s five postseason games. His best performance came against UConn on Dec. 22 when he finished with 10 points along with four dimes.

The 6’1″ point guard likes to play uptempo basketball. He is highly skilled, possesses an excellent feel for the game and has a strong work ethic. Quinerly thrives with the ball in his hands and is fantastic in pick-n-roll situations. The soon to be sophomore playmaker also has a soft shooting touch and some nice finishing moves, although the floater seems shot of choice near the rim.

Quinerly’s game does have some holes in it. He is not very explosive and needs to improve his shooting as his atrocious 43.8% true shooting percentage and 41% effective shooting percentage — the lowest of any ‘Nova player over the last five seasons who played double-digit minutes in at least 10 games — indicates. Defense was also an issue for Quinerly last season as he was tied for last on the team in defensive win share and second to last in defensive rating at 107.6.

The Hackensack (N.J.) native played at Hudson Catholic where he was selected as a McDonald’s All-American his season year. Last year, he was ranked as the 29th best prospect in the class of 2018 by 247Sports Composite rankings and 28th by 247Sports rankings. Meanwhile, ESPN gave him his highest standing at No. 26 and Rivals tabbed him at 31.

Pitt showed interest in Quinerly, who will have to sit out next season, almost immediately and is likely one of the favorites to land his services. He also has been in contact with Arkansas‘ coach Eric Musselman, Cincinnati’s coach John Brannen as well as Nate Oats of Alabama. All four of those schools make sense, but we will see whether he announces a final list before making a decision.
