Draft Expansion

The NFL draft has 7 rounds, and while their rosters are much larger they do not roster all of these players, as usually someone in the 7th round is fighting for their lives. But, it still gives many of these players an honest chance. It is easy to see talent and athleticism, but it is hard to find players that are just gamers.  Think to the NBA and Nikola Jokic, other than the fact that he is 7 feet tall nothing about him sticks out on paper, but he can just ball out in games, how often does a second-round pick turn into what Jokic is.

Now the reason I think that this could be more of an option now is with the G-league. More players could be drafted as I think this could very quickly turn into what the NHL has in the AHL. Now teams could have 30 players rather than 15 meaning you could easily expand the draft. This would for those players that enter their names to begin with have something to fight for. Right now many just want to hear what the NBA is talking about, and what they need to develop before next season. Now, they could actually enter their names and have a much better chance.

Now again there is an issue that might appear with this. Would it solve the issue of too many people entering their names I am not sure, because we might just see more middle of the road players enter their names? But, I like this as it would give more opportunity to those who enter. They now would have 90 picks instead of 60, if they went to three rounds, to hear their names called. We see so many years very good players be shipped overseas because there just is not enough opportunity, and I think the G-league is changing that, so why not expand the draft?
