After four years at Alabama, 5th-year senior guard Dazon Ingram has announced his decision to transfer to UCF Basketball. What are they getting?

After the Alabama Crimson Tide struggled to reach expectations last year, they have seemed to clean house. They fired their head coach Avery Johnson. After his firing, four Alabama players entered the transfer portal. Once Nate Oats was announced as the new head coach, Kira Lewis and John Petty left the transfer portal to remain with the Tide. Many were waiting to see what the remaining two players would do, and Dazon Ingram has made his decision.

Ingram has decided to officially transfer from Alabama to the UCF Golden Knights. Many expected Ingram to transfer. He graduated this past fall, so he will have one year of unrestricted eligibility with UCF. Ingram struggled with injuries this year, but he found his way into the starting lineup for spurts. Ingram is a driving point guard who learned to play off the ball in his past two seasons. When he attacks the rim, he usually gets fouled. He was one of the Tide’s more average free throw shooters this past season, shooting 71 percent. Despite not having the highest percentage, he had a high volume.

Ingram should be a good fit for the Knights. UCF has many players leaving the team due to graduation, including guard B.J. Taylor. Taylor carried the team offensively with both scoring and assists.

Dazon wasn’t a prolific scorer, but that was partially due to Johnson’s offensive schemes and the level of competition in the SEC. He showed flashes, and there is no reason to believe that he won’t be able to score at a higher level in the AAC.

Although Dazon Ingram isn’t a high-level name, he is an experienced guard who can bring a senior presence in the UCF locker room. His game fits well with what they’re losing, and Ingram is in position to have one of the more successful seasons in his college career.
