NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing Scottie Barnes’ final eight
Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas is in a bit of a down period right now. Heading into this past season, they were widely selected as the favorite to win the title but they struggled with injuries and other issues throughout the year. The Jayhawks still wound up with a No. 4 seed but it was a disappointing season on the whole. In addition, there is not a tremendous influx of recruiting talent from the 2019 class at the moment, either. They should still be a top-25 team during this coming campaign but a commitment from Scottie Barnes could put them right back in the national title conversation for the 2020-21 season.
Kansas has been arguably the most consistent program in the entire nation over the course of the 21st century and that definitely is appealing. The Jayhawks have landed a No.1 seed on countless occasions and they seemingly find a way to be an elite team. Coach Self is one of the best in the business and his staff has been extremely active with remaining in contact with Barnes. As I have already mentioned before, his versatility fits with any roster and the Jayhawks are eager to potentially add him to their roster.
Kansas’ staff recently made a visit to see Barnes as they are hoping to lure him to the Sunflower State. It might be difficult to beat out some of the other powerhouses on this list but KU has landed top prospects in the past. Their most recent top-5 commit was Josh Jackson in the 2016 class.
