D’Marcus Hall is a leader for the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers. The class of  2020 NCAA Basketball recruit  is starting to make a big impression for college teams.

2020 Calvary Baptist Academy Forward D’Marcus Hall can play basketball at a high level.

He recorded a double-double for the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers of Shreveport, Louisiana with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. The Cavaliers finished the 2018-19 season with a 17-15 overall record and 8-0 2A District One record.

D’Marcus Hall started playing basketball in the third grade wanting to emulate his older brother who played both football and basketball. He realized he had the talent to play the game in eighth grade.

“My grandma has had a huge impact on my life. Teaching me [that] I can achieve anything I put my mind to and let God handle [it],” he said when asked who has an impact on his life.

The six-foot-five, 190 pound, Houghton, LA native was born and raised in the country and grew up riding horses, fishing and building tree houses in the woods with his brother and cousins. He wants to go to college for economics and entrepreneurship and start his own real estate and construction company.

“The toughest thing that I’ve had to overcome is my mind. I had to start [to] believe that I’m truly the best player on the court,” he said.

He looks forward to his recruiting process getting off the ground and counting each opportunity he receives with a college program as a blessing. He has received scholarship offers from the following schools: University of Louisiana-Monroe, Marist College and Northeastern State University. At the moment, he has high interest in the Eric Musselman led Arkansas Razorbacks because his family are big fans of the school.

“I will look for somewhere that I feel can push me hard and make me a better player and man more importantly, and somewhere where I feel welcomed.”

When looking at Hall on film, I was impressed with his three-point shooting ability, smooth jump shot, his ability to create his own shot and the fact that he runs up and down the floor very well-looking to block shots in transition. Scoring on all three levels is the best part of his game. In his junior season, he learned that if he does everything required of him that this is a lifestyle he would love to have and enjoy.

“To be a complete player I need to work on being a leader in all situations. It’s easy to be a leader when everything is going good,” he said.

Calvary Baptist Academy Head Basketball Coach Victor Morris said that Hall improved tremendously from when he first stepped on the court to now. He was a low post player in the beginning, but he worked diligently to sharpen his ball handling, improve his jump shot, and expand his game. Morris isn’t surprised by his rise at all.

“Next year, I would like to see him be even more dominant. I think he has the type of talent where he can dominate a game in several ways not just scoring but making plays for others, defending, and being vocal,” Morris said about what he wants to see Hall improve upon as a senior.

He believes that Hall can be a great defender and he will have the ball in his hands more which means he will have more opportunities to lead his team any way he can. Morris is excited to see what he will be able to do.

As a senior, D’Marcus Hall wants to maintain a 4.0 GPA, score a 25 on the ACT and get the chance to go to college on a full scholarship with multiple offers from major programs throughout his recruiting process.

“I will miss my coach. He has done so much for me. I want to be remembered as being a good man and person that loves God.”
