NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Pros and cons for each landing spot for Jaden McDaniels
By Josh Stevens
3. San Diego State Aztecs
San Diego State already has a connection with his brother Jalen having attended the school. He was a sophomore this year, but he has since declared for the NBA draft. He is currently projected as a late first rounder to early second.
The pros of playing at San Diego State may not be pros to most other athletes, but the McDaniels family is not like most. They do not want all of the attention on them and going to a school like San Diego State would handle that rather well. Charles Bassey last year was a top 10 recruit that went to Western Kentucky and we did not hear much from him after that, he is still a projected first rounder in the NBA draft. Also, he would have the chance to play where his brother did, something that we saw from the Plumlee’s at Duke.
The cons are that he would not have a legit chance at making it to the second weekend in the NCAA tournament, his draft stock would most likely hurt a little bit, and the competition would not be as good for him to improve himself. I think that Aztecs do have a good chance to sign him, but I think their fate may be decided based off of what his brother decides he is going to do with the draft.
