RJ Hampton has reclassified to 2019 which makes him the top player available in this year’s NCAA Basketball recruiting class. He also named a new top four schools that he will consider.

RJ Hampton reclassifying isn’t a surprise to anybody. This has been rumored for some time now and the schools have been recruiting him for the 2019-20 season. He is now the second highest ranked player remaining in the 2019 NCAA Basketball recruiting class behind Jaden McDaniels and would be a huge addition for any of these four teams to pick up.

Hampton is the 7th ranked player in the class according to 247sports and is the second best combo guard behind Cole Anthony. They also have Hampton’s crystal ball as Duke in second with a 30% chance to land him, but they didn’t make the final four of his.

The Blue Devils were considered the favorite for him for a long time especially before his reclassification rumors came about. Many still believe that if he would’ve stayed in the 2020 class that he would have played at Duke. With Tre Jones returning to school and incoming recruits such as Cassius Stanley and Boogie Ellis, he wouldn’t be given the chance to shine there as he will be able to elsewhere.

He has made it known he doesn’t have a problem playing alongside an established point guard as long as he’s still able to have a large role on a good team. Hampton feels he has nothing left to prove in high school which makes him ready to make this jump.

He is an elite guard who will greatly improve whichever team he ends up playing for. Here are the final four teams in his recruitment and a look at the odds that they have of landing Hampton for next season.
